Harrods sneak peek

Howdy and good evening my dear readers,

It's only Tuesday but my work week has already been super crazy. But let's not think about work.

Not too long ago I went to Harrods and managed to take a few pictures without the security guards seeing me (to my defense, it said nowhere that taking pictures was not allowed !)

I like Harrods for its customer service and the variety of luxurious goods you can get there. And while they certainly have loads of pretty things only the rich and famous can afford there are plenty of things a normal person like me can afford as well, like make-up for example. If you want to go on a make-up shopping spree Harrods is THE place to go. Plenty of brands to choose from and you can always get the nice staff to show you their products and do your make-up.

Well, today's pictures are not about make-up but about fashion. While I don't like to go there for their clothes they really tend to have nice, inspirational decorations. But enough talking, let's get on to the pictures !

52 days challenge: #3 What my own (Lolita) lifestyle is like

Good morning my dear readers,

Today's question is a bit of a tough one. Everyone has a different definition of "Lolita Lifestyle" and I bet you are no exception :)

I must admit, that I don't "feel" like a Lolita. I love the fashion but I don't wear it often for various reasions:

Lolita is an expensive fashion
If you really want to rock it, then you need a lot of money. Or space to make your own clothes. Unfortunately, living in one of the most expensive cities on this planet I have neither nor, so my Lolita collection is small, especially since I once quit it and sold almost my entire collection or even gave some to friends and charity for free. (It's a bit of a shame now because now, a few years after I did so I feel I am not totally "done" with the fashion yet...)

Lolita is not the only fashion I like
I am very much into Hime Gyaru and Gyaru as well. I want to do everything, so I kind of have to pick when I go shopping. Also due to me not being a teenager or in my superearly twenties anymore I feel that Hime Gyaru and Gyaru fit better into my everyday life, which leads me to:

Lolita often does not go well with a professional life
Even though I currently work in an industry and company where I could probably get away with wearing Lolita most of the time, I don't think that it would be the best decision I could make in terms of my career. If you want to be taken seriously by leading business (wo)men your clothes should reflect your own professional attitude. So I believe it is best to keep Lolita (esp. OTT) out of the office.

However, I still like the fashion very much. I love to see beautiful Lolitas in stunning coords. I love frills and cuteness, cakes, cupcakes, tea and the like. I like to design and sew Lolita clothes and put all my energy into it while I was in fashion school and running my own Lolita label. I am part of various online communities and drool over Lolita sales. Like a lot. And once summer hits I hope to be attending a lot of meet-ups again :)

So now, before I close this post, let me show you some pictures of me that were taken yeaaarrrrrsss ago. I can't get my hands on "proper" Lolita pictures of myself at the moment but let me share a few of those with you anyway. I hope you enjoy :)

Have a lovely day, everyone :)

52 days challenge: 5 movies (for Lolitas)

Good morning, everyone.

Guess what ? It's snowing ! The perfect weather to snuggle up on the couch, enjoy a hot chocolate and watch a movie. However, if you don't know what to watch, don't worry. Today's challenge post asks for 5 movies (not necessarily for Lolitas). This gives me the perfect excuse to show you some trailers of movies I really enjoyed watching, with the first one even being my absolutely favourite one. The others, however, are in no particular order.

So please read watch on and enjoy my suggestions:

1. The Bumblebee Flies Anyway

2. James Bond - Casino Royale

3. Invictus

4. Kamikaze girls

5. 27 Dresses

52 day (Lolita) fashion challenge, # 1: 5 pieces that every (Lolita) wardrobe should have, regardless of style

A wonderful evening to all of you,

Now let's start the challenge with an easy question. At least I believe that in terms of Lolita fashion this is an easy one. My pick would be:

1. a pretty jumper skirt in a flattering color and with a print of your choice
2. a white blouse
3. a petticoat
4. a pair of cute, white socks
5. comfortable but pretty shoes in a basic color (black or white though I would go for white)

I think that with these 5 items you can already put together a pretty outfit. Also no matter what print or color your dress has, in most cases you should be able to pull off a decent outfit wearing a white blouse, white socks and white shoes with it. So if you buy different dresses or skirts, white will most likely look good with it.
Some of you might wonder why I went for a JSK instead of a skirt or one piece. The simple reason for that is that I like JSKs best. You can vary the outfit by picking a different blouse, vary the choice of your socks and also shoes. A one piece tends to look the same, no matter what you do. In regards to skirts a JSK simply pulls off a complete outfit much easier.

Now on to everyday fashion. Here I find the answer much more difficult but let's give it a try:

1. a cute dress (I would opt for a short one)
2. over the knee socks
3. a pair of skinny jeans
4. a thin, pretty top with 3/4 sleeves
5. a light jacket

Now with these 5 items you are pretty much settled (and I did not list shoes on purpose). You can either go for a simple jeans/ top combination, wear the dress on its own or pair up your dress with the top. If you picked  your clothes well you can even dare to wear your dress together with your superskinny sexy jeans ! And no matter what combination you go for, a well chosen jacket will go with all your outfit combinations.

I hope I got you inspired to play around with your wardrobe a bit more :)

So long~
